Jeff Gordon won the Pocono 500 in a rain shortened 106 of 200 lap race. Gordon can thank Steve Latarte, his crewchief, for some very good rain shortened strategy.
It’s another lucky Hendrick win. They continue to make all other teams in Nascar wonder about this organization. Even Kyle Petty in the TNT had to say he couldn’t beat this kind of strategy. Ryan Newman finished second and Martin Truex Jr finished third and another great finish for him and DEI. Dale Earnhardt Jr finished 12th.
This Hendrick organization is good or very lucky. If Junior is looking for wins, he probably should sign with Hendrick for a satellite program, fielding a car at JR Motorsports with Hendrick engines. Only Martin Truex Jr knocked Hendrick Motorsports out of another COT win at Dover on a rain-delayed Monday race.
When the end was announced, the crowd booed. It figures.
