Blood vs. Water

Where has the NASCAR family gone when fair agreements can’t be shared with just a hand shake. But that idea is gone.

If Dale Earnhardt Sr were alive the family feud between Dale Earnhardt Jr and his step-mother Teresa wouldn’t be happening because blood is thicker than water in the Earnhardt family.

But in this case blood is Dale Earnhardt Jr and his sister Kelly on one side and water is his step-mother Teresa and her hired gun Max Segal. The issue was control of the company Dale Sr built, but now it’s just control of that famous #8, well at least to Junior’s fans.

A grass routes efforts is building on the internet to convince Teresa Earnhardt to give Dale Jr the #8 to take with him to Hendrick Motorsports. And it’s not like Dale hasn’t earned that gift. He made that number more famous that the times his father and grandfather ran the now famous number.

First, even before running the #8, Dale Jr brought TWO Busch Series Championships to Dale Earnhardt Inc. Right away Dale Jr proved his worth riding the #3. Who knew in 1998 and 1999 the #3 would be so significant later on.

Then Junior won the 2000 All-Star Challenge, or whatever it was called then. Wins at Texas, Talladega, and Richmond followed, including TWO Winston Million races. Then there was that win in the 2001 Pepsi 400, a 1-2 finish for DEI with then teammate Michael Waltrip. Junior had just lost his father months earlier in the 2001 Daytona 500. This comeback came on the heals of another race, a DEI win by Steve Park at Rockingham the following race. Not to mentioned that DEI finished with a 500 win that fateful day by Michael Waltrip; finishing 1-2 with Junior. 17 wins in all in points paying races isn’t enough because Junior doesn’t personally own the #8.

I know blood is thicker than water, but water can still make an effort. Teresa, you need to let Junior fly with the one thing Senior should have left him, ownership of the famous #8. It’s a small point that fanatic Junior fans across the world would love. They may even respect you too.
